Before You Begin:
You must have Owner credentials in ADP Run. The Owner role is required to add new admin users. Regular admin accounts cannot complete this setup.
Not sure if you're on ADP Run? See here for help choosing the right integration - ADP Integrations: Which One Should I Use?
Steps to Connect:
Step 1: Automatic Connection via OAuth
Log into the Thoropass App.
Select Settings, then Integrations.
Click +Browse Integrations.
Search for or scroll to ADP Run, then click Learn More.
Click Set Up Integration.
Enter a name to identify the connection account, then click Save.
Click Connect to open the ADP Run authorization window.
Sign in with your ADP Run Owner credentials.
Authorize the connection when prompted.
Return to Thoropass. You will receive confirmation once the connection is active.
If the Automatic Connection Fails:
If you encounter an error during the OAuth login, you can set up the connection manually by adding a dedicated admin user in ADP Run, as outlined below.
Step 1: Add a New Admin User in ADP Run
Log into ADP Run with your Owner credentials at run.adp.com.
Navigate to Company > Add Users or Company > User Security, then click Add User.
Fill in the user details as shown in the Thoropass connection window:
User ID
First Name
Last Name
Email
For the Role, select Payroll Admin.
Save to create the new user.
Step 2: Connect in Thoropass
Return to the Thoropass connection window.
Enter the credentials for the new admin user you just created.
Click Connect to complete the authorization.
Troubleshooting:
I don't have Owner credentials.
Owner credentials are required to create admin users in ADP Run. Contact the person in your organization who manages ADP Run access and ask them to complete this setup, or to grant you the Owner role temporarily.
I see an error after connecting.
Confirm that the user was created with the Payroll Admin role. If a previous Thoropass/Finch admin user existed, delete it and recreate it using the values shown in the Thoropass connection window.
You see "Hang tight!" after the final step.
This is expected for first-time connections — Thoropass is finalizing the setup on the backend. The connection will appear under Settings, Integrations once it completes.
