Linking Policies and Controls

Currently, Thoropass enables links between policies and controls to support the annual policy review compliance practice

Linking the Policy from the Control Page

When viewing a policy-related control in Thoropass, we show linked Thoropass policy templates.

In cases where you are not using Thoropass policies or if you remove all existing linked policies, you'll see a prompt to connect your policies. You can only link published policies to a control.

Clicking "Edit" or "Link Policy" (in the case of the second scenario), will open up a modal where you can add a new policy or remove an existing link.

Linking the Control from the Policy Page

Controls can also be linked to the policy directly from the policy details page.

Clicking the edit icon will open up what is a essentially the inverse view of linking the policy from the controls page.

What Does Linking Do?

We track the last time a policy was published, and warn you when your deadline is approaching to review a policy. Most policies must be reviewed at least once every 12 months, but check with your auditor to confirm.

Note that when a policy is reaching its next review by date, a task is also created in the Tasks module and assigned to the policy owner. This is unrelated to the policy being linked to a control.
