# User-Created Custom Unified Controls

You can create *custom Unified Controls* to track and implement controls that aren’t currently offered by Thoropass.

To create a custom Unified Control, navigate to **Controls** and select **New Control (make sure you are on the Unified Control view)**. If you don’t see this button, you can contact your CSM to enable it and learn more.

# The Limitations of User-Created Custom Unified Controls

User-created custom Unified Controls are limited in the following ways:

- They exist separately from Thoropass’s core list of Unified Controls.

  - The core control list was created by Thoropass audit experts to simplify your experience. To learn more about our Unified Controls, see [Understanding Unified Controls](https://help.thoropass.com/en/articles/8981659-understanding-unified-controls).

- They are not connected to a framework and will only be visible from the Controls page.

  - Guidelines created within a user-created custom control can’t be connected to other action items.

- They do not benefit from Thoropass’s integrations and automations.

- They can’t be considered in-scope for audit.
